Papa Latchkey

Papa Jim, Owner

I have been a Daly City resident for over 38 years.  I started the Latchkey Alternative Center in September 1984 with just nine students.  Today we have more than 60 students between our preschool and school-age programs. It is my great pleasure to be working with such dedicated and caring teachers. Latchkey has grown into a loving, safe, education center with a bilingual Spanish component.

We are so fortunate to have a positive relationship with the Jefferson School District.  Since
we are located on site at Franklin D. Roosevelt Elementary School, we can work closely with the teachers to ensure that our preschool program gives your child the skills they need to be successful in Kindergarten. We have a cooperative relationship with the administration and staff at FDR and have held many collaborative events, such as fleas markets, fundraisers, and school assemblies.

I have three children of my own and seven grandchildren, but I am still often referred to as “the biggest kid of all.”  I truly enjoy working in this field because the kids always keep me smiling!

Ms. Nicole

Nicole Feldman, Administrative Director

I have worked in the chlldcare field for over 20 years.  I have three children whom I love dearly.  I have been fortunate enough to travel all over the world from Greece to China and Venezuela to Canada. My travel experience has given me a great respect for the diverse cultures I encounter every day with our families.

Working at Latchkey has been such a rewarding experience over the years. I would not change a moment of the time I have had with the children and staff. In particular, I love working with children.  No two days are ever the same – you just never know what the day will hold for you.  I feel a special connection to FDR as my oldest child attended school there.

Fun fact: I love to be a daredevil and hope to skydive in the near future!

Ms. Harris

Michele Harris, Site Director and Pre-K teacher, since 1989

I am a mother and a grandmother.  I have worked with children since I was in elementary
and have been with Latchkey for over 25 years.  I have been blessed with a gift as well as a passion for working with children both professionally and personally.

I believe children need to move to learn and it is the process in which they explore their world and the people that touch their lives that gives their learning experience and their life substance.

Ms. Juanita, Teacher

I have been working with children for over 10 years. I attended City College of San Francisco and have earned 30 ECE units. I enjoy working with children because I love learning about them by chatting and playing with them. Most importantly, I enjoy nurturing them and being a part of their lives. I have always been passionate about working with children and I love every part of teaching them.

I enjoy spending my spare time with my husband and our young son. I also enjoy shopping and reading.

I have been in the childcare field for over 9 years and believe this to be my true passion. To me, there is no greater reward than to work with such pure and innocent lives. Latchkey is like a family and they have given me the opportunity to be a part of the family and given me a sense of belonging. Our Latchkey family works together as one and are dedicated to the well-being of our kids.

As the mother of two children, I understand the challenges a parent faces when leaving your children to start of the work day. I want to reassure you that our Latchkey family is providing your children with the best possible care.

Ms. Eloisa

Ms. Eloisa, Teacher since 2008

I came from the beautiful country of the Philippines. I have 4 healthy children and 3-1/2 grandchildren. I began my teaching career in 2003 and have been working with Latchkey since 2008.

I love working with the children at Latchkey. It makes me happy to see them learning new things and telling their parents about what they have learned. I love seeing the children’s smiles when they have learned something new or when they find new friends.

Ms. Stephanie, Teacher

I was born in San Francisco with Nicaraguan and Salvadorian parents. I am working towards the goal of earning my teaching credentials in order to become an elementary school teacher. It is a great pleasure to be able to teach children during their early formative years. Children have such extraordinary minds. I want to teach them to thrive and use their individual minds to explore and appreciate the wonders of everyday life.

I hope someday to travel the world to discover and explore the different cultures and countries, especially since I LOVE planes!
